Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator works under the direct supervision of the IT Administrator. Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They install hardware and software and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of their organization. System administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
2. Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
3. Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues
4. Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
5. Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
6. Provision of system resources such as Server, Storage, and Network with the approval
7. of IT Administrator / IT Manager.
8. Setup and manage external connectivity including site-to-site VPN connections.

JOB COMPETENCIES/SPECIFICATIONS

1. Strong knowledge of VMware, Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL), and Windows Operating systems (ADS, GPO, DNS, DHCP, File, and Print Server)
2. Working knowledge of Network Monitoring (Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus)
3. Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
4. Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems)
5. Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl, or another language
6. Experience with scripting and automation tools
7. Strong knowledge of NAS, SAN, and RAID Configuration
8. Strong knowledge of Backup and Replication (Veeam)
9. Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication) or its equivalent
10. 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience.
11. A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
12. Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
13. Excellent communication skills
14. He/she should be able to identify the system issues and solve them in an effective manner.
15. He/she must be able to work well even under pressure and must also have the ability to respond to and prioritize the incoming work according to stringent deadlines.
16. System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other related fields are a plus
