Associate Database Administrator
Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Database Administrator works under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. The Associate Database Administrator will be responsible for designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing, and maintaining organizations databases. Must ensure the reliability, integrity, and security of the organizations data infrastructure
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement, configure, and troubleshoot database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access.
- Manage and administer user privileges within the database environment.
- Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods.
- Implement database best practices to team members and help advance their technical skillset
- Manage database reports & ETL processes.
- Automate repetitive database tasks.
- Recommend system changes to mitigate risks, prevent reoccurrence of incidents, improve performances
- Documents major incident reports or service and change request specifications.
- Creates database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
JOB COMPETENCIES:
- 3+ years Database Administration work experience (MySQL, MariaDB experience strongly preferred)
- 3+ years creating, maintaining, and supporting Database in a high transactional environment
- Proficient in SQL Language and SQL Tuning
- Experience in database performance tuning, optimization, backup, and recovery
- Experience with replication configuration in MySQL, MariaDB
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to produce across your team and beyond
- Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
- knowledgeable with the standards and best practices in database administration
- Must possess at least a bachelor’s Degree, Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication) or equivalent.
